Product ownership grounded in the original approach
The Registered Product Owner credential was developed by Dr. Jeff Sutherland and Scrum Inc., the organisation co-founded by the inventor of Scrum. The RPO formally recognises individuals who understand lean principles, Product Owner techniques, the patterns of high-performing teams, and how the Product Owner role scales within an organisation.
The course includes industry-specific case studies that highlight effective product ownership in different contexts, combined with highly interactive exercises to make learning stick. Attendees leave with a clear understanding of how to assess business value, build a ready Product Backlog, and consistently deliver the right product in the right order.
Delivered by Tim Robinson, an Agility and AI Professional and Registered Scrum Trainer, the course combines theory with practical application to help attendees understand how effective product ownership works in their own context.
What your people will learn
- How the Scrum Framework helps deliver products and services faster and with higher quality while cutting cost and improving employee satisfaction
- How to assess business value and prioritise features, projects, and portfolios
- How to consistently deliver a successful product to the marketplace
- How to create and maintain a compelling product vision
- How to build a ready Product Backlog and ensure delivery of the right product in the right order
- How to embrace the Product Owner role by being knowledgeable, available, decisive, and accountable
Why organisations choose RPO
The RPO credential offers an alternative pathway for Product Owners rooted in the original Scrum Inc. tradition. Organisations that value the Scrum@Scale approach, or that want to develop Product Owners who understand lean thinking and the patterns behind genuinely high-performing teams, often choose the RPO over other credentials.
It is also a strong choice for professionals who want a product ownership credential that is directly endorsed by the co-creator of Scrum and clearly differentiates them in the market.
