The Certified Scrum Master course is designed to give everyone in a Scrum team, not just those stepping into the Scrum Master role, a thorough grounding in how Scrum works, why it is structured the way it is, and how to make it effective in practice. The course is delivered by Jon Spruce, a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). That distinction matters: only a CST can award the CSM certification, and the accreditation process ensures the trainer brings genuine depth and coaching experience, not just familiarity with the Scrum Guide.
The two days cover Scrum theory and foundations, all roles, events and artefacts, and a range of practical applications, including how Scrum operates in real-world circumstances such as remote teams, fixed-price contracts, and third-party supplier relationships.

Certification and exam

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course. However, it is helpful to review the Scrum Guide (scrumguides.org) and the Agile Manifesto (agilemanifesto.org) before attending, to familiarise yourself with key terms and values that underpin the two days.
