Moving from competent to exceptional as a Scrum Master
The Advanced Certified ScrumMaster course is designed for Scrum Masters who already have a working understanding of the framework and want to develop the deeper skills that distinguish an effective Scrum Master from a capable one. Where the CSM builds the foundations, the A-CSM shifts the focus to coaching people, facilitating difficult conversations, and influencing teams and organisations toward genuine agility.
The course is delivered by Jon Spruce, a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer. It is highly interactive and includes a wide range of personal, one-to-one, and group exercises. Attendees leave with a practical toolkit of coaching and facilitation techniques they can apply immediately, alongside a clearer sense of how to develop their own leadership approach over time.
The two days address communication and coaching skills, team dynamics and motivation, advanced facilitation techniques, and how to coach the agile mindset across an organisation rather than just within a single team.
What your people will learn
- How to deal with common agile problems and impediments at team and organisational level
- How to evolve and reinvigorate agile teams over time
- How to dive into team and relationship dynamics
- How to coach teams and organisations in the agile mindset
- How to understand and work with different people and motivations
- How to facilitate effectively, both locally and with remote teams
- How to use a ready-to-apply toolkit of coaching games, exercises, and facilitation techniques
- How to help teams transition to a more Lean and Agile way of working
- How to build communities of practice and support continuous improvement at scale
Why organisations choose A-CSM
Most organisations investing in Scrum find that the early progress a good CSM course creates eventually plateaus. Teams start to go through the motions of Scrum events without the underlying engagement that makes them useful. The A-CSM gives experienced Scrum Masters the skills to identify and address that, whether the issue is team motivation, facilitation quality, or organisational resistance to change.
It is particularly valuable for Scrum Masters who are starting to take on responsibility across more than one team or who are being asked to support broader agile transformation within their organisation.

Delivery options
We offer this course as a private cohort for organisations, or as a public course where individuals can book a place alongside practitioners from other organisations. Both formats are available remotely or in person across the UK, Europe, and the USA.
Private delivery keeps the discussion grounded in your team's actual context. Public delivery is ideal where individuals want to train alongside peers from outside their organisation.
